“In 1939, my great grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother, said of her first tour of Canada with her husband, King George VI: `Canada made us.’ Catherine and I now know very well what she meant. Canada has far surpassed all that we were promised. Our promise to Canada is that we shall return,” William said.

William and Kate vow to return to `beautiful’ Canada

Guys, anytime I hear anything about the Queen Mother I just burst into tears. And that is the legacy of The King’s Speech.

Really, Alberta? Will and Kate come to Calgary and you show them the oil sands? Goddammit. EVERYONE HATES THE OIL SANDS. LET’S KEEP A LID ON IT IN FRONT OF THE COUPLE EVERYONE WANTS TO IMPRESS.

Doesn’t this look like the kind of storybook place where Will and Kate would live?

Happy 90th, Prince Philip— for every year he has been alive we probably have that amount of memorable and/or controversial quotes from the Prince…
For instance: Queen Elizabeth II (speaking to a 14-year-old blinded by a Real IRA bomb in 2002): “How much can you still see?” Prince Philip: “Not a lot, judging by that tie.”
See More— In the Words of Prince Philip

The Boyfriend is probably going to cry laughing at these. I am sort of reservedly amused, considering that my mother told me that there was some sketchy goings-on with respect to Philip’s courtship of Elizabeth (she was probably way too young.)

Well, I’m going to make this pronto. I love McVities Rich Tea Biscuits. I love any Anglocentric tea biscuits. Like Pimm’s? With the orange marmalade and the dark chocolate? Good lord, I have Pimm’s dreams.

My parents own these. This is why I am interested in this royal wedding - because it was something my parents experienced as an event in their lives.

Look, I’m not saying I’m a Hello-magazine buying weirdo. But I am saying I’m going to watch this at 6 am on April 29th with mimosas and a really grumpy Boyfriend next to me. And I’m also going to say that Kate Middleton is a stone cold fox.

I, too, would do something like this just to get away from a castle full of wedding planning. Up high, Hal.
