Kids These Days of the Day: We knew it! A new study published in the journal Pediatrics has found that infants living in households with dogs are healthier and have fewer infections.
Though cats also appear to offer some immune protections, the link isn’t as strong.
The study, based on 397 children who live in Finland, found that “the children having dogs at home were healthier, they had less ear infections and they needed less antibiotics,” reports pediatrician Eija Bergroth, the study’s lead author.

Parents shouldn’t feel guilty about having or not having a pet when their child is young. If you want a pet, get a pet.

How can I say this: I am currently making the same face as the pug over the coffee and the dessert. Damn you, detox.

And now, selected quotes from a Daily Intel post about Martha Stewart’s chow-chow, Ghengis Khan, who won Best in Breed at the Westminster Dog Show this morning.
“What makes the victory all the more sweet for Martha is that this isn’t the first fluffy puppy she’s named after a legendarily fearsome Mongolian warlord. Today’s victorious chow-chow replaced Ghengis Khan the First, who died in a 2009 explosion at a kennel club and training center for show dogs in the Poconos.”
“As a delighted and proud Martha tweeted, Ghengis simply outclassed the competition: ‘Jan kolnik showed ghenghis. She knew he was the best and he proved it by winning.’
“Stewart’s dog also probably had the most expensive pre-show meal. Below, he and Stewart dining at the Plaza on Sunday.”

Look, I don’t want to hear it. I’m sure Martha’s crazy but I love her and congratulations, Genghis Khan, ya big weird furball.

Roger Ebert just posted this on his Facebook page. Tilda Swinton with puppies.

The only person who can continue to look untrustworthy while holding that many puppies.
